Emmie is an almost two year old golden doodle. She is a dream to walk and is the sweetest girl.
Emmie hasn’t always had an easy life and has a few quirks that her forever family will need to work with her on. She is very shy and used to think the world (and people) were really scary. Her foster family has worked really hard showing her that she doesn’t need to be afraid.
Emmie loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with another confident dog to show her the ropes. She loves to play and be outdoors. She is great around kids but does get nervous around new people. She loves to go on long walks and riding in the car with the window down.
Emmie does not like hands near her face. She never gets aggressive about it but she will tuck tail and hide if she feels uncomfortable. She has a favorite chair she likes to nap in and her new family will need to allow her to sleep in bed with them (this seems to be place she is most receptive to snuggles and pets) or slowly work with her to sleep in her own bed. Emmie loves treats and is learning to sit but still doesn’t trust people enough to do basic commands with a treat reward. She is fully potty trained but is not crate trained. She can’t decide if she likes toys and bones yet…but warning she does like underwear & socks. She gets nervous at door transitions and sometimes is fearful of putting on her slip lead on even though she loves to go on walks.
Ultimately, her new family will need to continue to work with her and expose her to the world. It will probably take a few weeks for her to feel safe in her new home before she will allow pets. Her new family will need to be patient with her and understand that she will need lots of extra time & patience. We have seen her come so far in the short time she’s been fostered.
She is such an awesome dog! The best shy girl! Emmie would make a great addition to any family.
